This lovely old document, kindly supplied by Fred Hams, has survived since 1855 and gives us a great deal of information about Challock at that time.  Of particular note is the reference to the “Pleasure Ground”   The sale is of the Estate – The Manor or Lordship of Dene and Ludnor, alias Laringden, inclucding the residence Brisley’s House. Also included was Robin Hood Farm.

This map dated about 1870 shows the area involved in the sale and the formal layout of the gardens is clearly seen.
